Parent involvement is encouraged and welcome! If you feel called to share your love of Jesus through his Holy Word, we offer training and resources to prepare you for this rewarding ministry.
And you don't have to be a parent in order to share your faith
The Children’s Liturgy of the Word is a fun and interactive way to share your faith with the children of our parish. We would like to continue to offer this ministry each Sunday during the 10:00 AM Mass, but need more couples and individuals to make this happen. Members of this ministry team present the Sunday readings and Gospel, along with an interactive homily at the child’s (K-grade 4) level of understanding. Training and resources are provided. Please consider joining our Children’s Liturgy team and making this ministry happen. For more information, please contact Mary Toot at 621-8133 or via e-mail at MToot@dor.org.
Liturgy of the Word for Children
During the 10:00 Sunday Mass, the children in grades pre-school through 4th grade are called after the opennng prayer to the parish center to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word on their level. Parent facilitators help the children become familiar with basic prayers and hymns. They lead child friendly discussions based on the Sunday Scripture readings which the children hear in age-approriate language that they can understand. The guided discussions enable the children to understand how the Gospel message relates to their everyday experiences.
