Beacons in Our Midst

This week we recognize Peg Roach. The one who nominated her tells us that she has spent many hours volunteering at, and advocating for, Holy Cross Church and School in the Community. She shines Godís light through her many activities: bringing Communion to the residents of Shore Winds Nursing Home, serving at luncheons after funerals, visiting parishioners at hospitals, delivering Meals on Wheels, and support of the Charlotte Lighthouse as a volunteer.
Peg has always been willing to step up and help whenever and wherever there is a need. She continues to work quietly behind the scenes, seeking nothing in return. Her joy comes from meeting the nicest people along the way!

Our Sacristans work in small teams on Saturday mornings after the 8:00 AM Mass to prepare the Church for the weekend liturgies. Lovingly caring for Godís house includes cleaning the sanctuary and sacristy, tidying the missals and hymnals in the pews and cleaning and refilling the holy water fonts. Each sacristan team works from a detailed set of directions.

The ministry of a Sacristan is a special one in that it is performed in an (almost) empty Church. It usually takes about an hour and each team is responsible for doing this only 5 times a year. If you are looking to add a new ministry or thinking about volunteering for the first time, being a Sacristan is an excellent choice that allows you to directly benefit Holy Cross Church. New volunteers will be placed on teams with experienced sacristans, or you and your friends or family can volunteer as a full team and youíll be trained!

Thank you Holy Cross Sacristans. We appreciate your service to all of Godís people.
