The Contemporary Music Ensemble of Holy Cross Invites You to Join Us for a Call to Music Ministry
Thursday, September 8, 7:00 PM in the Parish Center
Music ministry offers unequaled opportunities to share your talent, serve your parish, and live your faith.
The Contemporary Music Ensemble (CME) is a vibrant group of musicians & vocalists who lead music worship at the Saturday 7:00 PM Mass and at special liturgies, from September to June. We sing selections from our hymnals as well as the works of Christian recording artists such as Chris Tomlin, Michael W. Smith and Keith & Kristyn Getty. Our special prayer this year is to expand our musical capabilities with added harmonies and instrumentation.
If you can carry a tune and/or play an instrument such as drums, guitar, violin/fiddle, or any other string or wind instrument, won’t you consider using your talent to praise God and encourage others through your music?
Come see if music ministry is the call you’ve yet to answer!
All ages over 13 are welcome. Bring a friend!
Refreshments and a thank you gift for all who attend.
Contact Minister for the CME is Janis Reed.
To express your interest in joining the Contemporary Music Ensemble, contact Janis by calling the parish office. Just leave a number where you can be reached, along with a good time to call.
The Contemporary Music Ensemble leads the song and prayer at the weekend, Saturday evening liturgy at 7:00 PM and occasionally at other liturgies, i.e. First Communion, Confirmation, penance services, etc.
Special requirements of this ministry
No tryout is necessary, only a love of singing or playing an instrument. It is important to commit to attend weekly rehearsals. Car pooling is available if it is necessary to rehearse elsewhere.
Duration of ministry
The Contemporary Music Ensemble sings at the Saturday evening liturgy from the second week of September to the feast of Corpus Christi (usually in June). A yearly commitment is desirable.
Rehearsal times or training sessions
Rehearsal is usually every Thursday: 7:00 PM for instruments, 7:30 PM for choir in Holy Cross Church. There is a yearly day of formation/enrichment on the first Saturday in September.
Expected dress requirements
As with all visible ministers at the Eucharist, dress should be one's "Sunday Best", and should be appropriate for the eucharistic celebration (i.e. No Jeans or Sneakers). There is no specific dress code other than that which all ministers are expected to observe.
